Land Department


The job of acquiring and managing thousands of acres of oil and gas leases is one of the most important aspects of New Century's efforts.  Supervising varied leasehold and operational matters across Texas and Louisiana is a huge endeavor.  The New Century Land staff manages multiple groups of lease brokers, title analysts, title attorneys, and right-of-way agents across Texas and Louisiana.  They also prepare division orders and coordinate various operational personnel, such as surveyors, who must be carefully selected for their experience and expertise in specific areas of operations.

The Land team manages to handle all these activities very professionally and efficiently. One of their tools is I-Landman, an online data base management application.  This remote server portal allows real-time data entry from lease and title personnel and is administrated from New Century's offices.  This is just one more cutting edge technology that allows the company to operate efficiently.

Jeff Arch Grimes

Land Manager

Jeff Grimes attended South Texas College and has valuable years of experience managing lease acquisition programs in several states, with an emphasis on Texas.  He is an expert in all aspects of the land business.  Jeff has managed numerous lease acquisition teams and projects and is responsible for generating many new opportunities for New Century.  Jeff is a native Texan and lives in Spring with his wife, son, daughter, and loyal dog Buster.  He is an active member of the American Association of Petroleum Landmen (AAPL) and the Houston Association of Petroleum Landmen (HAPL).  Jeff is an avid sportsman and enjoys many outdoor activities including golf, hunting and fishing.

Seth Jortner, RL

Landman

Seth Jortner is a Petroleum Landman with a specialty in land and lease title.  His experience includes work in the Gulf Coast, North Louisiana, and East Texas.  He earned a B.A in Petroleum Land Management from Texas Tech in the Rawls College of Business.  He is a Notary Public and an active member of the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL) and the International Petroleum Association of America (IPAA).  Seth's father is a Petroleum Engineer and he grew up in the oil and gas business.  Seth’s wife is a teacher and they live in Spring Texas.
