Ethical & Environmental
Responsibility

We take our
responsibility to build value for our company, our projects, and our partners
seriously. Our services are beneficial to
our economy, society and the environment. In
order to achieve that goal we strive to serve as a conscientious corporate
citizen in every area where we conduct business.
We
conduct our business operations ethically and legally in a manner that is
environmentally, socially and fiscally open. We strive to maintain highest
standards while creating value through a viable financial performance. Our operations have
a positive financial impact on the communities in which we operate and every
well we drill has a direct financial benefit to hundreds of people.
Our commitment to the environment is obvious in our operating record. We are committed to utilizing
all
resources available to leave a minimal footprint and to preserve the habitat supporting the plant and animal populations in our areas of
operation. We work closely with surface owners and design our well sites
wisely and in compliance with corporate and governmental standards to insure
safety and security during our operations. We endeavor to always leave our
sites in the same or better condition than they were before we arrived. Our
emphasis is on oil and natural gas, the cleanest, most affordable and abundant energy source
produced in our country.
We recently supported
the Nature Conservancy’s acquisition of 247 acres which was added to Chemin-A-Haut State Park in Morehouse Parish, Louisiana. This is one of
the priority freshwater sites in the Lower Mississippi Alluvial Valley
and nationally. The track includes bottomland
hardwood forest, cypress swamp, and aquatic habitats, which serve as
home for numerous rare species. The property is bounded by
Bayou Bartholomew, ranked third in the nation in the number of fish
species identified.
The Nature Conservancy's
press release reads: “This project
would not have been possible had it not been for the cooperation of New
Century Exploration, Inc., which holds the mineral lease on the
property. New Century has agreed to restrict any surface activities to a
limited area so that the natural and aesthetic values of the property
are protected."
Dr. Keith Ouchley, State
Director of the Louisiana office of The Nature Conservancy, stated “This
project exemplifies the novel approaches to conservation that must be
employed in this era of limited state and federal budgets. If we are to
be truly successful in conserving our natural heritage, we need to be
able to balance the needs of property owners with natural resource
restoration priorities—the partnership with New Century is one such
example.”
