Phil Martin, President of New Century, received a B.S. in Geology from Louisiana State University and a M.S. in Geology from University of Louisiana. He has managed exploration programs in Texas and Louisiana for over 20 years. His specialty is 3D seismic exploration.

Phil presented "The Haynesville Reveals Its Secrets" at the SIPES Continuing Education Seminar at the Marathon Oil Conference Center in January 2009 and at the SIPES National Convention in Hilton Head, South Carolina in April 2009.  He will present "An Industry Perspective on the Haynesville Shale Gas Play" to the Midland Chapter of SIPES November 18, 2009.  He will be a speaker at the HGS Midstone Conference (AGC) in Houston on February 9, 2009.

During 2007 and 2008 Phil presented "Fishing with Dynamite: 3D Seismic Exploration in the Gulf Coast" to the Houston Geological Society, and to SIPES Chapters in Lafayette, Oklahoma City and Corpus Christi, as well as the South Texas Geological Society in San Antonio.  He also presented "Thriving as an E&P in a High Decline World" at Pickering Energy's "Hotter 'N Hell Energy Forum" in July 2007. 

Phil is a Certified Petroleum Geologist, DPA No. 4333, Certified Earth Scientist, SIPES No. 2390, and a Licensed Professional Geoscientist, State of Texas No. 5393.  He is a member of AAPG, HGS, SEG, Onshore Exploration Independents, and Houston Producers Forum.  He is Chairman of the Board of Geological Data Library and sits on the Board of the Houston Energy Council.  He is President of the SIPES Foundation and Secretary of the SIPES National Board.  Phil is also a member of the AAPG Trustees Foundation, the LSU Foundation, and the European Association of Geoscientists & Engineers (EAGE).
